Jim Steck

Principal

.Jim has over 20 years of experience in real estate finance and program management. Jim served as SVP of Affordable Housing for City First Homes.  Prior to joining CFHomes, Jim served as the Greater Washington representative for Wachovia Bank's Community Development Finance Group, where he originated $102 million in construction loans for town homes and condos as well as $131 million in New Markets Tax Credit and $54 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credit project financings. Jim also served as lead manager with KPMG Consulting for several major federal government loan guarantee programs, including the Air Transportation Stabilization Board, which guaranteed private sector loans to major airlines after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. As manager, Jim was responsible for leading a team of academics, a major ratings agency, and industry experts that developed a loan application review process, a methodology for estimating credit losses from the guarantees, and a loan-servicing program.

Jim also served on the Advisory Board of the DC office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the Advisory Board of the Nonprofit Finance Fund, and the board of Cornerstone, Inc., a non-profit CDFI that provides home financing support for persons with mental disabilities. Jim is a graduate of the University of Maryland.
